this is a butoh inspired outdoor impromptu improv on a trail on Pt Pinole. I go to this trail pretty much everyday now even for only 20 minutes. It is a bit farther but I really love this trail. It’s not crowded, the trail is wide, there’s usually a breeze, and it’s by the water, and you can see Mt Tamalpais across the bay. I wish it had redwood trees instead of Eucalyptus and wonder what was here before the Eucalyptus were planted. Coastal live oak maybe? Anyway, it’s still my favorite place to go.
On this day I had the good fortune of a freight train passing by as my soundtrack. As I continue to evolve in my movement journey, (notice I did not say dance), I am more drawn to slower, less polished, more raw, more emotional works (which isn’t this one), and less gravitate towards polished, mainstream, instagram and tiktok worthy choreography. I’m getting old.
