Flora, Family Ghosts + resilient correspondences

Thanks to Richmond Art Center and Richmond Arts Commission, I have the good fortune to be in a conversation with two fantastic artist friends, Manon Wada and Shari Arai DeBoer. Together we discuss the shared running thread of our works despite how diverse our works are. I’ve known Manon and Shari through AAWAA. I have monthly checkins with Manon, Reiko and Maggie for a while. We got to know each other well because we all did a lot with A Place of Her Own, although not as much now. And I got to know Shari because she was the treasurer for AAWAA while I did the bookkeeping for A Place of Her Own, a fiscally sponsored project under AAWAA so we communicated with each other often. I learned a lot of quickbooks and finances through her.

The conversation is on Thursday May 27, 7-8 pm PST (which is really late for poor Manon because she lives in the east coast and has to stay up at 10-11 pm EST 🙁 ) Due to unforeseen circumstances, this event is rescheduled to Thursday June 10, 7-8 pm. Those who have registered will be automatically registered to the new date. They’ll get an email.

The event is free and online, but you have to register /RSVP to get the zoom link, so click on the image or click here to get to the Richmond Art Center site to see the online gallery with a link to the register or register directly here
