I was approached for an exhibition and I wanted to make work in a way I have not done before. I approached 3 Richmond-based non-profit organizations to get permission for which I was granted to use for the art. In turn the art will be up for sale and all the proceeds from the sale will go towards the respective organizations that inspired me to make the work. The organizations are Richmond Trees, Fix Our Ferals, and Urban Tilth. Although there are many fine organizations I’d like to highlight, I didn’t have enough time to approach each organization and also make the work.
I also am using gelli plates to transfer the images I’ve downloaded and printed out. Some have been printed to calligraphy paper. This is a technique I learned from Reiko Fujii.
