30 day drawing challenge: day 2

It doesn’t say that this 30 day drawing challenge has to be done in consecutive days.

Day 2 is your favorite animal. Mine is of course, my lovely cat, Latte. She was my first house guest after I bought the house. She was such a polite cat, waiting at the doorway until I invited her in. But then I got a housemate who had kids come every so often, so she stopped visiting me. Then the housemate moved out a year later. She decided to return.

Her caretakers lived across the street. One day I had a contractor come to my house to give me an estimate. It turns out his mother lived across the street. Later I learned from the contractor Latte’s entire life history, the fate of her siblings, and that for several years she had been strictly an outdoor cat because she didn’t get along with the dogs who moved into the house across the street.  I should also disclose that for several weeks prior to the contractor’s visit, I’d been visited by Latte, and I confess that some catnip was involved. Eventually I stopped sneaking around and asked to adopt Latte. He was so happy to hear about my interest, so she moved in, which just means they stopped feeding her and I started to feed her.

In the time I had her, I also didn’t know exactly how much to feed her. I thought she’d be able to self regulate. It turns out, that’s not the case, so I’ve been learning a lot and feeding her less.

She’s 11 years old now, and she is quite a lapcat. She loves chin rubs, rolling in catnip and her favorite food is turkey. She hates loud noises, being picked up, and salmon. Latte was her given name. But sometimes I call her pumpkin spiced Latte. She is also a mouser and has caught and presented them to me, though not as much now because after a year, she is loving being indoors, and sitting on my lap.
