I know people who see the exhibits might look at this post and think… oh she’s just an amateur and they’d be right! I don’t really care to be a professional artist, so I’m just going to be myself. I know I should have an actual website instead of a personal blog post, but (insert endless excuses here). I don’t really have that much ambition other than making good art for myself and documenting my process so when I get old and start to lose my mind, maybe I’ll have this bookmarked, (provided that internet will still exist at that time) and I can remind myself who I was.
I had ample time to make new works and to make this post, but nope! I chose to wait until the last minute to do any of this. Over the summer, I went to Canada with my mom and had a mini family reunion with her two sisters, and we met relatives we’d never met before. I gathered stories, I compiled recordings, I took notes. I procrastinated and procrastinated and procrastinated. I binged on shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime. I laid down a lot. Napped a lot. I thought about it. I worried about it. I took time off from work. And then I finally had to purge it all out. I don’t know why my process is like this. I wish it weren’t. I wish I could be neat, but instead I singlehandedly made my house vomit on itself.
Also, my internet connection is super slow, so I’m combining the two shows in one blog post, so I can just hit the publish button once.
